Subject:Millennium Babies - "Welcome Babies/Baby Citizen Package"

Recommendations:

The Children and Youth Action Committee recommends that:

(1)the "Welcome Babies/Baby Citizen" package program be continued and that City Departments and the Toronto School Boards be requested to assist with the program.

(2)That the owners of The Children's Book Store be thanked for their donation of books for siblings who attended with the 32 babies at City Council on February 1, 2000.

The Children and Youth Action Committee reports, for the information of the Community Services Committee, having congratulated and thanked staff responsible for organizing and supervising the very happy and successful launch of the Welcome Babies/Baby Citizen package on February 1, 2000, and extended its thanks to Ms. Fiona Nelson and other Committee members for their involvement in the launch.

Background:

The Children and Youth Action Committee on February 18, 2000, heard a verbal report from Ms. Fiona Nelson on the official launch of the "Welcome Babies/Baby Citizen" package at the February 1, 2000 meeting of City Council.

The Committee's recommendations are noted above.
