To: Toronto Cycling Committee
From: Gillian Flower, Communications Sub-Committee
During its meeting on October 27th, 1999, the Communications Sub-Committee accepted a proposal from the Promotions
and Development Sub-Committee to merge both sub-committees into a single unit. This merging would benefit both
sub-committees for several reasons.
1. The responsibilities of both sub-committees seem to overlap. Merging them would make their operation more efficient;
2. As neither sub-committee has an official co-chair, merging the sub-committees would lessen the workload for each of
the current sub-committee chairs;
3. Merging the sub-committees would reduce the number of TCC sub-committees from 4 to 3. Attendance at one joint
sub-committee meeting would likely higher that at any one meeting of either sub-committee.
The Communications Sub-Committee therefore recommends that the Toronto Cycling Committee approve the merging of
the Communications Sub-Committee and the Promotions and Development Sub-Committee.
