2. Update on Cycling Master Plan
- will be a Special Meeting, design seminar on December 1, in the evening, for members of the TCC
- another seminar during the day for staff
- Bruce Burgess, Bicycle Federation of America
3. Update on Ontario cycling meeting of November 6, St. Catharines
- will be discussed at main meeting of the TCC
- attended by Issie Chackowicz, Crawford Murphy, Steve Beiko, Nina Koskenoja
- organized by cycling committees of Burlington, St. Catharines, Niagara
- attended by both staff and volunteers
- organization to promote recreational cycling in Ontario
4 & 5. Greening the City and Road Classification System were deferred since Joan Doiron was not present.
6. Ontario Cycling Association Network Plan - copies given out; Will Wallace requested that anyone riding the routes
let him know if any suggestions
7. Reduction of car lanes on Pharmacy Road in Scarborough
- mainly residences with driveways, on-street parking not required
- residents want car lanes reduced; opportunity for bike lanes instead of parking
- David Dunn to call Peter Hillier, Phil Piltch
8. Spadina Avenue
- David Dunn reported new edge line on Spadina Avenue to be added next weekend, weather permitting, to be painted on
- next open house sometime next year
- Works Committee Agenda second Wednesday in December
- Nina attended open house; TTC wants Baldwin St closed, residents do not
- TTC wants no left hard turns on Baldwin, no uncontrolled turns across TTC right of way
- 87 trees to be increased to 300; construction to start in late April
- curb lane 3 m., other lane 3.3-3.35m, edge strip 0.9m
- very minimum for trees is 2m, usual is 2.4m; honey locust trees
- curbs will be 12 inches
- discussion of closing north bound lane of Spadina, south of King Street to Front Street
9. Brainstorming - What is future direction for NP&FSC?
Bike Parking - secure all-day parking required
Car parking in bike lanes
- suburban diamond lanes, HOV lanes; can be used for bike lanes as well
- issues of legal car parking beside the bike lane and designing bike lanes beside parked cars
Cycling in narrow car lanes versus wide car lanes
rush-hour bike lanes on Yonge Street
should we continue to put in time on local street issues like Prince Edward Drive
working on fostering a bike culture in the suburbs
