Communication dated December 2, 1999
from Councillor Betty Disero, Ward 21 - Davenport
In July, Toronto Community Council asked staff to conduct an informal poll on St. Clair Avenue West, regarding
the establishment of a Business Improvement Area. The poll proved positive on St. Clair Avenue West, from
Westmount Avenue to Glenholme Avenue.
There have been ongoing discussions with businesses between Westmount Avenue and Glenholme Avenue with respect to
starting up a Business Improvement Association.
I have conducted a public meeting, and there is a strong indication from business owners, that the people want to go ahead
and conduct a formal poll to see if the area identified above should be incorporated as a B.I.A.
Recommendation:
Recommend City Council to instruct staff to conduct a poll on St. Clair Avenue West, between Westmount Avenue and
Glenholme Avenue, for purposes of establishing a Business Improvement Association.
