Subject: 17 Shady Glen Road - Ontario Municipal Board hearing held on June 11, 1999

Appeal of the Committee of Adjustment's refusal to grant a minor variance

Ward 5

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to advise of the outcome of the Ontario Municpal Board Hearing with respect to 17 Shady Glen Road, held on June 11, 1999.

Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

Recommendations:

It is recommended that this report be received for information.

Background:

The owner of 17 Shady Glen Road applied to the Committee of Adjustment for a variance to allow a single detached family home with an attached garage to be used as a lodging house with accommodation consisting of a one bedroom basement apartment, a one bedroom first floor apartment, and a second floor containing four rooms with a shared bathroom.

Neither a lodging house nor basement apartments are permitted uses in the subject area.

In a decision dated March 10, 1999, the Committee of Adjustment refused to grant the minor variances requested. On Appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board, the Board dismissed the appeal.

A copy of the Board=s decision is attached.
