Subject: Traffic Poll Results: Implementation of Alternate Side Overnight Permit Parking on Sutherland Drive between
Lea Avenue and Markham Avenue.
Purpose:
To report on the results of a traffic poll conducted on Sutherland Drive between Lea Avenue and Markham Avenue
regarding the implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
The proposed changes can be accommodated from within the existing Operating Budget.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the East York Community Council consider the poll results and determine whether or not to
implement alternate side overnight permit parking on Sutherland Drive between Lea Avenue and Markham Avenue.
Background:
The East York Community Council, at its meeting held on December 2, 1999, requested the City Clerk to poll the residents
of Sutherland Drive between Lea Avenue and Markham Avenue as to their support in connection with the implementation
of alternate side overnight permit parking.
Comments:
With respect to the implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking on Sutherland Drive between Lea Avenue
and Markham Avenue; on a street name basis, to operate between the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., 7 days a week; the
results of the poll are as follows:
Number of residents polled: 40
Number of responses: 25
Spoiled: 0
Number in favour: 10
Number opposed: 15
No opinion: 0
Comments returned with the poll have been provided to the Councillors representing East York, Ward One.
Conclusions:
The East York Community Council is requested to consider the poll results and determine whether or not to recommend
the implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking on Sutherland Drive between Lea Avenue and Markham
Avenue.
East York Community Council could either:
(a) (i) recommend to Council implementation of alternate side overnight permit parking on Sutherland Drive between Lea
Avenue and Markham Avenue; and
(ii) that the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect to the foregoing;
or
(b) receive this report for information.
