Board of Health
February 10, 2000
To: Board of Health
From: City Clerk
Subject: Public Health 2000 Operating Budget Submission and Proposed Reductions - Recommendations from Budget
Subcommittee meeting, February 9, 2000.
Recommendations:
The Board of Health Budget Subcommittee recommends:
(1) to avoid serious impact on the health of the City of Toronto's population, that the Board oppose the proposed reductions
to the Public Health 2000 operating budget;
(2) that 100% Provincially-funded Public Health programs not be included in budget reduction calculations; and
(3) that the Board oppose the absorption of annualized costs within the Public Health base budget as a result of Council
directed initiatives.
The Subcommittee further advises having directed the Medical Officer of Health to forward the aforementioned report
directly to the Board at its meeting on February 21, 2000.
Background:
The Board of Health Budget Subcommittee at its meeting on February 9, 2000 had before it a draft report (February 9,
2000) from the Medical Officer of Health providing recommendations with respect to the Public Health 2000 Operating
Budget Submission and Proposed Reductions.
