Recommendations:
It is recommended that the Board of Health:
(1) appoint members to the following Subcommittees; and
(2) designate the Chairs of such Subcommittees.
Background:
Section 21(3) of By-law No. 1-1998, To Govern the Proceedings of the Board of Health for the City of Toronto Health
Unit, states:
"The Board at its first meeting in each year or as soon as practicable thereafter shall appoint the committees and shall
designate the Chair of such committees."
Comment:
The current membership of the Board's Subcommittees is as follows:
(1) AIDS Review Panel
Nominations to be forwarded by the Medical Officer of Health each year.
(2) Animal Services Advisory
4 representatives from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, one from each of the two branches and
two affiliates within the City of Toronto (Victoria Earle, North York; Merle Blain, Etobicoke; Stacey Alderwick,
Scarborough)
2 citizen representatives who are not pet owners (Sue Hardill; Bryan Hamberg)
1 representative of the Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine (Dr. Clayton Mackay)
