STAFF REPORT
January 4, 2000
To: North York Community Council
From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3
Subject: School Bus Loading Zone: Englemount Avenue at the Glen Park Public School
(North York Spadina)
Purpose:
To install a School Bus Loading Zone on Englemount Avenue, in the vicinity of the Glen Park Public School.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of the school bus loading zone are included within the Division's operating
budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that By-law No. 32759, of the former City of North York, be amended to install a School Bus Loading
Zone on the east side of Englemount Avenue, from a point 20 metres north of Glengrove Avenue to a point 50 metres
northerly thereof.
Background:
Mr. Bill Zumpano, Manager Transportation, Business Services, Toronto District School Board, requested the
Transportation Services Division, consider the installation of a School Bus Loading Zone on Englemount Avenue. Mr.
Zumpano has indicated that with numerous school buses currently servicing the school, a loading zone is necessary.
Comments:
Currently, north of Glengrove Avenue, parking is prohibited on the west side of Englemount Avenue and stopping is
prohibited between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the east side.
Conclusions:
The installation of a School Bus Loading Zone on the east side of Englemount Avenue will provide an appropriate area for
children, who are currently being bussed to the Glen Park Public School, to board and alight the school bus.
