January 27, 2000
To: North York Community Council
From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3
Subject: Parking Prohibitions: Avondale Avenue
(North York Center)
Purpose:
To install parking prohibitions on both sides of Avondale Avenue from Burnwell Street to Willowdale Avenue.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within the Division's operating budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that Schedule VIII of By-law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit
parking on both sides of Avondale Avenue from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, from the easterly limit of
Burnwell Street to the westerly limit of Willowdale Avenue.
Background:
Currently, parking is prohibited from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the north side of Avondale Avenue
from Dudley Avenue to a point 76 metres east. Although there are signs to prohibit parking from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
Monday to Friday, on the south side, from Dudley Avenue to 181 Avondale Avenue, no by-law currently exists.
Comments:
Councillor Filion and Councillor Gardner have petitioned the residents on both sides of Avondale Avenue, from Burnwell
Street to Willowdale Avenue and the results indicate that the majority is in favour of installing the proposed parking
prohibition.
Conclusions:
This division supports the proposed parking amendments as requested by the residents.
