To: North York Community Council
From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3
Subject: Parking Prohibitions: Langside Avenue
(North York Humber)
Purpose:
To prohibit parking on the east side of Langside Avenue from Queenslea Avenue to a point 40 metres south.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within the Division's operating budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that Schedule VIII of By-law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit
parking at anytime on the east side of Langside Avenue, from Queenslea Avenue to a point 40 metres south.
Background:
Currently, parking is permitted for a maximum of up to three hours on both sides of Langside Avenue, between Queenslea
Avenue and Lamont Avenue.
Staff have been advised by Ms. Daniela Dolan, 15 Langside Avenue, that motorist sight lines, when exiting from
driveways on Langside Avenue south of Queenslea Avenue, are restricted. In addition, when vehicles are parked on the
east side of Langside Avenue, westbound motorists on Queenslea Avenue find it difficult to see northbound traffic.
Comments:
Investigations by staff have verified that due to the gradient change on Langside Avenue, south of Queenslea Avenue,
vehicles parked on the east side of Langside Avenue, immediately south of Queenslea Avenue, create an obstruction.
Conclusions:
The implementation of the parking prohibitions will improve safety for all traffic (vehicle and pedestrian), at the
intersection of Langside Avenue and Queenslea Avenue.
