		January 28, 2000 To: North York Community Council From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3 Subject: Parking Prohibitions: Burnett Avenue (North York Centre) Purpose: To prohibit parking at anytime on the north side of Burnett Avenue between Welbeck Road and Senlac Road. Financial Implications and Impact Statement: All costs associated with the installation of the parking restrictions are included within this Division's Operating Budget. Recommendation: It is recommended that Schedule VIII of By-law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking at anytime on the north side of Burnett Avenue between Welbeck Road and Senlac Road. Background: The Transportation Services Division of the Works and Emergency Services Department reviewed a request from local residents to restrict parking on the north side of Burnett Avenue between Welbeck Road and Senlac Road. This request was made as a result of numerous previous complaints regarding daily on street parking occurring on both sides of the roadway. Currently, parking is permitted for up to a maximum of three hours on both sides of Burnett Avenue, between Welbeck Road and Senlac Road. Despite numerous requests to the Toronto Police Services for enforcement of the three hour parking limit, motorists continue to park daily on both sides of the street. Comments: Our investigations have verified that numerous vehicles are parked consistently on both sides of Burnett Avenue. These parked vehicles restrict the flow of two way traffic and reduce the visibility for motorists while exiting from their driveways. Councillors Norman Gardner and John Filion surveyed the affected residents and the results concluded support for the implementation of the parking prohibitions. Conclusions: The implementation of the parking prohibitions will improve traffic operations on Burnett Avenue and will address the long term parking concerns of the residents, which cannot be addressed through traditional parking enforcement.
