STAFF REPORT
March 6, 2000
To: North Community Council
From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3
Subject:Parking Prohibitions: Forge Drive
(North York Black Creek)
Purpose:
To prohibit parking on the east side of Forge Drive.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of the parking prohibitions are included within the Division's Operating Budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that Schedule VIII of By-law No. 31001, of former City of North York, be amended to prohibit parking
at anytime on the east side of Forge Drive from the northerly limit of Potsdam Road to a point 35 metres northerly thereof.
Background:
This Division has reviewed the concerns of Mr. Presutti, 3 Forge Drive, regarding problems related to Wheel Trans access,
caused by vehicles parked on the road.
Currently, parking is permitted for maximum periods of up to three hours on both sides of Forge Drive.
Comment:
Our investigation has verified the resident's concern as vehicles were parked on Forge Drive. This parking activity would
restrict Wheel Trans pick up/drop off operations at 3 Forge Drive. Vehicles are frequently parked for periods of less than
three hours, which makes police enforcement extremely difficult.
Conclusion:
To improve Wheel Tans accessibility, this Division supports an amendment to the current parking regulations. The
implementation of the parking prohibitions will not adversely impact the availability of on street parking.
