STAFF REPORT
March 3, 2000
To: North York Community Council
From: Roberto Stopnicki, Director, Transportation Services, District 3
Subject:All Way Stop Control: Bedford Park Avenue and Ledbury Stree
(North York Centre South)t
Purpose:
To introduce an all way stop control at the intersection of Bedford Park and Ledbury Street
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of an all way stop control will be included in this Division's Operating Budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that Schedules XVIII and XIX of By-law No. 31001, of the former City of North York, be amended to
require traffic to stop on all approaches to the intersection of Bedford Park Avenue and Ledbury Street.
Background:
Currently, eastbound and westbound traffic on Bedford Park Avenue is required to stop at Ledbury Street. There are stop
controls on Ledbury Street one block to the north of Bedford Park Avenue at Woburn Avenue and traffic control signals
three blocks to the south at Lawrence Avenue West.
Comments:
This Division has reviewed residents' concerns regarding the level of safety of pedestrians and motorists at the Bedford
Park Avenue/Ledbury Street intersection.
The results of the most recent all way stop study concluded that the warrants for the installation of an all way stop study
were satisfied.
Conclusion:
In view of the above, this Division recommends the installation of an all way stop control at the intersection of Bedford
Park Avenue and Ledbury Street.
