Referral of Application for Approval of Plan of Subdivision
Metrodome Properties Inc.

UDZ 99-29 and UDSB 1243
Purpose:
Appeals of zoning by-law amendment application UDZ99-29 and the subdivision application UDSB1243 have been filed
by Murray Chusid, solicitor for the applicant, Metrodome Properties Inc.
The applicant's solicitor has filed appeals on the grounds that more than 90 days have elapsed since the submission for
zoning and subdivision were made on September 27, 1999. Copies of the appeal letters sent to the Ontario Municipal
Board and the City Clerk are attached to this report.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1)Staff be directed to schedule a Community Consultation meeting for March 28th, 2000;
(2)Staff be authorized to schedule a Public Meeting under the Planning Act to consider this application;
(3)Notices for the Community Consultation meeting and the Public Meeting under the Planning Act, be given according to
the Regulations under the Planning Act; and,
(4)Staff be authorized to continue processing the application.
Background:
A preliminary report concerning this application was received by Community Council on December 2, 1999. At that
meeting, Council approved a motion requesting the applicant to revise the proposed plan prior to a Community
Consultation meeting being held. A copy of this motion is attached.
A Councillor's information meeting was held on January 20, 2000 at which time residents raised the following issues:
- proposed height of houses
- proposed lot coverage
- preservation of trees bordering property
- proposed lot width.
However, no further revisions were made to the plan, and the applicant has advised that the plan as attached, is their
submission. It is our understanding from the applicant that no further revisions will be made. A Council decision is
necessary for staff to prepare for the Ontario Municipal Board hearing. Thus, further processing of the application and a
Final Report are needed.
