Subject: Public Health 2000 Budget Submission

Recommendation:

The Children and Youth Action Committee recommended to the Policy and Finance Committee and the Budget Advisory Committee that the Children's Action Plan be included in the Public Health Department's 2000 Budget submission and that City Council be reminded of the Toronto Children's Charter during its budget deliberations.

The Committee reports, for the information of the Policy and Finance Committee and the Budget Advisory Committee, having requested that this matter be placed on its January 17, 2000 agenda for further information/discussion by the Committee.

Background:

The Children and Youth Action Committee on November 30, 1999, had before it a report (October 18, 1999) from the City Clerk regarding the Public Health 2000 Budget Submission and advising that the Board of Health on October 18, 1999:

(1) adopted the report (October 15, 1999) from the Medical Officer of Health respecting the Public Health 2000 Budget, and in so doing, forwarded the report to the Children and Youth Action Committee for consideration; and

(2) referred the report to the Policy and Finance Committee and the Budget Advisory Committee for consideration during the year 2000 budget process.

The Committee's recommendations are noted above.
