Subject: Accessible Parking Spaces at Toronto Police Service Facilities.
Purpose:
Given that the Toronto Police Service occupies buildings owned by the City of Toronto and it is the City that is responsible
for exterior and infrastructure issues, it is requested that the Policy & Finance Committee review the requirements for
providing accessible parking spaces at city-owned police facilities and provide any funds that may be required to ensure
that adequate accessible parking is consistent at all police facilities.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
The Toronto Police Services Board has not been advised about specific financial implications with regard to this matter at
this time.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1) the Policy & Finance Committee review the requirements for providing accessible parking spaces at city-owned police
facilities; and
(2) the Policy & Finance Committee provide the funds associated with recommendation #1 to ensure that adequate
accessible parking is consistent at all police facilities.
Background:
At its meeting on December 9, 1999, the Toronto Police Services Board was in receipt of the following report

"Subject: ACCESS TO TORONTO POLICE SERVICE FACILITIES BY PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED CUSTOMERS
- RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE POLICY AND BUDGET SUBCOMMITTEE
Recommendation:
It is recommended that:
(1) The Board receive this report.
Background:
The Policy and Budget Sub-committee met on November 17, 1999 and discussed the access to facilities report. The
sub-committee recommends the Board receive this report."
Conclusions:
Gerald Parker, President, Beyond Ability International, was in attendance and made a deputation to the Board.
The Board received the foregoing report and Mr. Parker's deputation and approved the following Motions:
1. THAT, given that the Toronto Police Service occupies buildings owned by the City of Toronto and it is the City that is
responsible for exterior and infrastructure issues, the Board request the City of Toronto to review the requirements for
providing accessible parking spaces at police facilities; and
2. THAT the City of Toronto provide the funds associated with Motion No. 1 to ensure that adequate accessible parking is
consistent at all police facilities.
