Subject: East District Festivals and Events Held Throughout the Year in the Scarborough Community

Former Wards in City of Scarborough

Purpose:

To respond to the request of Community Council to submit a report on various festivals and events held throughout the year.

Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

There are no financial implications resulting from the adoption of this report.

Recommendations:

It is recommended that this report be received for information.

Background:

The East District Scarborough Community has a long history of hosting a wide variety of events and festivals, that include sports, cultural, arts and family activities. Many of these events and festivals are community operated and others are directly or co-operatively hosted by the Parks and Recreation Division, East District, and the community.

Comments:

Attachment A is a list of events and festivals held throughout 1999 in the Scarborough Community. This list is not exhaustive and does not include community association, neighbourhood church events or the large local community centre events. It does include major events and festivals hosted at East District Parks and Recreation facilities.

Conclusions:

The East District Scarborough community has benefited from the community events and festivals organized. Part of the success of these events is the partnership staff and volunteers have developed throughout the years.
