Subject:Humber River Bridge at Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue West

Structural Rehabilitation, Contract No. 00FS-08S, Tender Call No. 04-2000 (North York Humber and Rexdale-Thistletown)

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to advise the results of the Tender issued for structural rehabilitation of the Humber River Bridge at Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue West, in accordance with specifications as required by the Works and Emergency services Department and to request the authority to issue a contract to the recommended bidder.

 Financial Implications and Impact Statement:

Funds to cover the cost of this project, in the estimated amount of $2,712,800.49 have been included in the recommended Transportation Services 2000 Capital Works Programme which has been approved by City Council.

Recommendations:

It is recommended that Contract No. 00FS-08S, Tender Call No. 04-2000 for structural rehabilitation of the Humber River Bridge at Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue West be awarded to Soncin Construction Corporation, in the total amount of $2,712,800.49 including all taxes and charges, being the lowest Tender received.Background:

The Bid Committee at its meeting held on February 16, 2000 opened the following Tenders for Contract No. 00FS-08S, Tender Call No. 04-2000, for structural rehabilitation of the Humber River Bridge at Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue West:

 *Tender price corrected for mathematical errors. Purchasing and Materials Management has verified that the mathematical errors were corrected.

 Comments:

The Tender documentation submitted by the recommended bidder has been reviewed by the Commissioner of Works and Emergency Services, and was found to be in conformance with the Tender requirements.

The Manager, Fair Wage and Labour Trades Office has reported favourably on the firm recommended.

Conclusions:

This report requests authority to issue a contract for structural rehabilitation of the Humber River Bridge at Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue West, in accordance with specifications, to Soncin Construction Corporation, being the lowest Tender received.
