APPOINTMENT OF COUNCILLORS TO THE YORK MUSEUM
COMMUNITY MUSEUM MANAGEMENT BOARD AND
THE YORK COMMUNITY LOCAL ARCHITECTURAL
CONSERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LACAC) PANELS

Purpose:
To implement Council's process for appointing Members of Council to Community Local Architectural Conservation
Advisory Committee (LACAC) Panels and Community Museum Management Boards.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
Not applicable.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1) the York Community Council give consideration to Members' preferences outlined in Schedule 1, and recommend to
City Council the appointment of Members of Council to:
(i) York Community LACAC Panel; and
(ii) York Museum Community Museum Management Board for a term of office expiring November 30, 2000, and until
their successors are appointed; and
(2) the appropriate City Officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto.
Background:
City Council, at its meeting held on April 13, 14 and 15, 1999, by its adoption, as amended, of Clause No. 2 of Report No.
6 of the Economic Development Committee, headed "Implementation of Council Decisions on Heritage Governance",
established the composition of various heritage bodies. Subsequently at its meeting of November 25, 1999, by its
enactment of By-law 795-1999, Council established the Toronto Preservation Board with Community Local Architectural
Conservation Advisory Committee Panels, and provided for the appointment of members to such bodies; and by its
enactment of By-law 793-1999, established the Toronto Historical Museum Board and 9 Community Museum
Management Boards, and provided for the appointment of members to such bodies.
Section 11(2) of By-law 795-1999 provides that the Community LACAC Panel members shall be nominated by
Community Council. Section 5(2) of By-law 793-1999 provides that the Community Council within whose boundaries the
Museum is located shall nominate membership in the Community Museum Management Board.
Comments:
Members of Council were recently canvassed to determine their respective interest in these appointments. The attached
Schedule 1 contains a list of those Members who have indicated an interest in these appointments.
Conclusions:
It is recommended that the York Community Council give consideration to Members' preferences outlined in Schedule 1,
and recommend to City Council the appointment of Members of Council to the York Community LACAC Panel and the
York Museum Community Museum Management Board.
