REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES

FOR BLOCKED DRAIN REPAIRS

148 HUMBERCREST BOULEVARD

Ward 27, York Humber.

Councillor B. Saundercook

(January 20, 2000)

Mr. Sean Griffin of 148 Humbercrest Boulevard has had to have his drains unblocked of roots at a cost of $1,500.00 The roots came from a tree two doors away and as the offending tree is not a City tree. reimbursement was denied.

However, the offending tree, located at 152 Humbercrest Boulevard is a beautiful oak whose owner wanted the tree removed in 1998 due to the roots overtaking part of his driveway. At the City's request the tree was not removed and permission was granted to the owner to park on Humbercrest Boulevard instead of his driveway.

This tree remains standing at the explicit request of the City, despite the problems it is causing. Therefore I feel reimbursement should be made to Mr. Griffin for expenses incurred repairing his drains for damage caused by the tree and staff be directed accordingly.
