Rescue/Pumper Trucks
The Community Services Committee recommends the adoption of the following joint report (January 5, 2000) from the
Commissioner of Works and Emergency Services and Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer:
Purpose:
The purpose of this report is to advise the results of the Request for Quotation for the supply and delivery of ten Triple
Combination Rescue/Pumper Trucks in accordance with the specifications, as required by the Toronto Fire Services, and to
request authority to issue a purchase order to the recommended bidder.
Source of Funds:
Funds are available in the 1999 Capital Budget - Equipment/Vehicle Purchase account.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the quotation submitted by Almonte Fire Trucks Company be accepted for the supply and delivery
of ten Triple Combination Rescue/Pumper Trucks, in accordance with specifications, at a total price of $3,851,465.00
including all taxes and charges, being the lowest quotation received meeting specifications.
Background:
Twenty-five firms were invited to submit bids and this requirement was advertised on the City of Toronto Internet Website.
Seven bids were received, as summarized below, for the supply and delivery of ten Triple Combination Rescue/Pumper
Trucks in accordance with specifications, as required by the Toronto Fire Services.

* The lowest bid from Almonte Fire Trucks Company (Alternate #1) does not meet specifications with respect to: Gross
Vehicle Weight rating, tire size, and rear axle capacity required to maximize load carrying capacity of the vehicle to
maximize the load of water carried to extinguish fires; and air conditioning which is required as a health and safety
requirement for providing rehabilitive environment for firefighters.
Staff of the Toronto Fire Services, Mechanical Division have reviewed the quotations and concur with the recommendation
made.
The Manager, Fair Wage and Labour Trades Office has reported favourably on the firm recommended.
Conclusion:
This report requests authority to issue a purchase order for the supply and delivery of ten Triple Combination
Rescue/Pumper Trucks used for fire fighting in the City of Toronto, in accordance with the specifications, to Almonte Fire
Trucks Company, being the lowest quotation received meeting specifications.
