Naming of Private Streets at 112 Evans Avenue
(Lakeshore-Queensway)
The Etobicoke Community Council recommends the adoption of the following report (December 17, 1999) from the
City Surveyor, subject to amending Recommendation No. (1) by striking out all of the words after the word
"named" and inserting in lieu thereof the words " 'Ben Goldthorp Way', 'Superior Creek Lane' and 'James Stock
Path' ", so that Recommendation No. (1) shall now read as follows:
"(1) the proposed private streets at the development at 112 Evans Avenue, as shown on Attachment No. 1, be
named "Ben Goldthorp Way", "Superior Creek Lane" and "James Stock Path";":
Purpose:
This report recommends that the proposed private streets located at the townhouse development at 112 Evans Avenue be
named "Ben Goldthorp Street", "James Stock Street" and "Superior Creek Lane".
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
There are no financial implications resulting from the adoption of this report. The estimated costs of $600.00 for the street
name signs are to be paid by Zanini Developments Incorporated.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that:
(1) the proposed private streets at the development at 112 Evans Avenue, as shown on Attachment No. 1, be named "Ben
Goldthorp Street", "Superior Creek Lane" and "James Stock Street";
(2) Zanini Developments Incorporated be required to pay the costs, estimated to be in the amount of $600.00, for the
fabrication and installation of the appropriate signage; and
(3) the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto.
Background:
I have a request from Zanini Developments Incorporated (55 Fieldway Road, Etobicoke M8Z 3L4) to name three private
streets at the townhouse development at 112 Evans Avenue. The development is located west of Alan Avenue between
Evans Avenue and Oxford Street. The streets are being named after previous property owners dating back to the 1800's and
the creek that ran through the property.
Comments:
The proposed street names have been circulated to and have the support of Councillor Irene Jones, Councillor Blake F.
Kinahan and Toronto Fire Services.
Conclusions:
The proposed names are not duplicated in the City of Toronto and should be approved for the private streets at the
townhouse development at 112 Evans Avenue.
