All Way Stop Control - Drewry Avenue at
Chelmsford Avenue - North York Centre
The North York Community Council recommends the adoption of the
following report (December 2, 1999) from the Director, Transportation
Services, District 3, Works and Emergency Services:
Purpose:
To install an all way stop control at the intersection of Drewry Avenue
and Chelmsford Avenue.
Financial Implications and Impact Statement:
All costs associated with the installation of an all way stop control are included
within the 1999 operating budget.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that Schedules XVIII and XIX of By-law No. 31001, of the
former City of North York, be amended to require traffic to stop at all
approaches to the intersection of Drewry Avenue and Chelmsford Avenue.
Background:
As a result of concerns from local residents, the Transportation Services
Division of the Works and Emergency Services Department reviewed
traffic operations on Drewry Avenue, which included all way stop
studies at the intersections of Drewry Avenue with Norwin Street,
Theresa Avenue, Cactus Avenue, Chelmsford Avenue, Brill Crescent and
Swiss Court.
Comments:
The results of the studies have indicated that the warrants for the
installation of an all way stop control are satisfied at the intersection of
Drewry Avenue and Chelmsford Avenue. Currently, southbound traffic
on Chelmsford Avenue is required to stop at Drewry Avenue.
Conclusions:
The installation of an all way stop control at the intersection of Drewry
Avenue and Chelmsford Avenue will improve traffic conditions at the
intersection.
