About MyAccesstoHousingTO

  • The City has launched MyAccesstoHousingTO, a new online application portal for households looking to apply or manage their application for Rent-Geared-to-Income housing in Toronto.
  • Existing applicants will need a code to sign on, which are being mailed in phases.
  • Visit toronto.ca/accesstohousing to learn more.
  • MyAccesstoHousingTO portal can be found on our website at toronto.ca/accesstohousing.

What is Rent-Geared-to-Income Housing?

  • Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI), or subsidized housing, is made available by the City of Toronto to make rent affordable for households.
  • In most cases, the rent at a subsidized unit is 30 per cent of a household’s total monthly income before taxes and adjustments.
  • If you receive social assistance the rent is based on the rent benefit set by the Ontario government.

Application & Waiting List Process

  • Once processed as eligible, applicants will be placed on the Centralized Waiting List, which is managed by Access to Housing.
  • Applicants are served on a first-come, first-served basis, and applicants with the older application dates receive an offer of housing first, unless applicants are eligible for priority status.
  • Toronto Community Housing Corporation and non-profit and co-operative housing providers use the Centralized Waiting List to select and house applicants for rent-geared-to-income assistance.
  • Note: There are other affordable housing developments that are not part of the Centralized Waiting List. More information about these developments, can be found on the Affordable Housing website.
  • We encourage applicants to consider Rent-Geared-to-Income housing as a long-term housing plan, not an immediate solution to housing needs or emergency situations. If you require emergency shelter, contact Central Intake.

Choice-Based Housing Offer Process

  • In January 2022, the City will introduce Choice-Based allocation and provincial single offer rule for all households on the CWL.
  • Through the choice-based offer housing process, eligible applicants will be able to:
  • view detailed information online in their MyAccesstoHousingTO account about available buildings and units, including photos, move-in dates and accessibility features, and choose units of interest, and
sign up to receive email notifications when new information is posted.

Important: Single Offer Rule

  • In compliance with the Housing Services Act, the City will be moving to a Single Offer Rule.
  • This means that as of January 1, 2022, you will be eligible to receive only one offer of suitable RGI housing.
  • If you refuse this offer, you will be removed from the Centralized Waiting List.
  • While you are eligible to re-apply, you will receive a new application date and will start at the bottom of the Centralized Waiting List.
  • Invitations to participate in a two-week Choice-Based cycle and express interest in available units will go out to eligible applicants by email based on their application date and priority status (if applicable).
  • More information about MyAccesstoHousingTO and the choice-based housing offer process (including a step-by-step instructional video on how to view and select vacancies) is available here.
