Water Discharge Requirements
- Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 743, Section 743-13 (outstanding amendments - Bylaw 375-2012) prohibits water from being discharged from a property or building onto a street when City staff determine it creates a hazard or nuisance.
- This applies to water entering City streets from private properties.
Property Owner Responsibilities
- Property owners are required to correct the issue within 24 hours after City staff identify the water discharge as a hazard or nuisance.
Report a Water Discharge Concern
- Contact 311 to submit a service request regarding:
- Sump pump discharge into City streets
- Property grading issues that cause water runoff
- Downspouts that discharge water onto City streets or road allowances
