Legal Services

Canadian Cente for Housing Rights (CCHR) will assist tenant groups with legal services to address eviction and affordability concerns.
CCHR will provide legal service to tenants, tenant groups and/or associations living in private market rental housing for the following matters:

  1. To dispute an L5 (above -guideline-rent-increase notice)
  2. To dispute an N12 (Notice to end your tenancy because the landlord, purchaser or a family member requires a rental unit)
  3. To dispute an N13 ( Notice to end your tenancy because the landlord wants to demolish the rental unit, repair it or convert it to another use)
  4. To file a T6 application (Maintenance application)
  5. Other matter determined on a case by case basis

Tenants' Rights and Responsibilities

For concerns related to your tenancy or your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, please contact either;

  1. The Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations (FMTA)
  2. The Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) : Assistance with social housing applications and tenant right enquiries regarding the private rental market. This agency does not provide assistance with shelters or direct help in finding housing.
