Notices - Ontario Line:
- July 27, 2025 - Phase 1 excavation & the acoustic shelter installation at the Osgoode north site. Please be advised that on Sunday, July 27, crews will be working at the north site to maintain the project schedule.
- July 25, 2025 - Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 7 PM until Monday, August 11th, 2025 at 5 AM. Queen Street East will be closed between Degrassi Street and McGee Street to demolish a section of the bridge. Overnight work is required to make sure all activities are completed during the closure period and the road reopens on time. More disruptive work will be scheduled during the day to minimize overnight noise. Transit impacts: Service changes to the TTC 501 Queen streetcar will be in place as early as Wednesday, August 6th to as late as Wednesday, August 13th.
- June 20, 2025 - Excavation work, including preparation works, are ongoing at the future Ontario Line station sites at Queen-Yonge. Crews will be digging, breaking, and removing both soil and rock to create the footprint of the future station site. This phase of work is expected to be complete in early 2026. On the east site (Yonge Street to Victoria Street), excavation work is ongoing. The installation of the acoustic shelter and crane have begun and is expected to be completed by August 2025. Once complete, the acoustic shelter will cover the east site. The shelter structure is expected to reduce noise and minimize dirt and dust from the work site, while allowing crews to work extended hours, year-round without being affected by the weather. On the west site (Bay Street to Yonge Street), excavation work is expected to start as early as July 2025. Crews will install an elevated base structure to allow an overhead crane to move on girders back and forth across the construction site. This work includes assembly and installation of beams, a trolly and ultimately the crane. Work is expected to take place on 24-hour work shifts, up to six days a week (Saturdays as required). Occasionally, crews will also perform utilities, and infrastructure works to prepare for future excavation of the site; this may include relocation of cables and utilities. This work requires the use of hydrovac trucks. Area residents and businesses can expect to hear noise from work equipment, like trucks and excavators. These machines are required for this work for the safety of infrastructure, and workers. Crews will take measures to minimize noise impacts wherever possible.
