The City of Toronto Parks & Recreation Division is responsible for maintaining these facilities. Skating rinks are maintained according to a schedule based on their usage frequency, with some having dedicated on-site staff and others being maintained by a staff rover or flying squad every 4 or 8 hours.

Parks staff flood and scrape outdoor ice rinks and skate trails on a regular schedule, typically 4 times daily. The maintenance schedule may be impacted by weather events such as a large snowfall or rain.

Free ice skate and helmet rentals, as well as skate aids, are available at Skate Lending Library locations.
