The City of Toronto has an ongoing commitment to deliver quality tree maintenance services and has launched a Request for Proposal to review and assess the existing tree maintenance programs and provide recommendations on options to develop a robust tree maintenance program for streets, parks, and naturalized areas. This is the next step as identified in the Tree Maintenance Report Update provided to Infrastructure and Environment Committee in May of 2024 along with other continuous improvement efforts underway for tree maintenance programs. Agenda Item History – 2024.IE14.11 (toronto.ca)
A holistic review and development of a comprehensive program framework will result from this work taking into consideration: industry best practices, review of policies, alternative methods to tree maintenance to retain trees longer, review of staff qualifications and training, resources and operational efficiencies. This review, to be completed in 2025, will also include consultation with industry stakeholders and the general public. The information garnered from this exercise will help inform improvements to tree maintenance programs.
