The City is planning improvements to the playground in Coronation Park – York as part of an enhancement project to modernize the existing playground with new equipment, seating and landscaping.

From October 27 to November 11, 2021, feedback on multiple playground design options was collected in an online survey. The survey was promoted through paid social media ads, outreach to nearby schools, the local Councillor’s office, on-site signage, and on this web page. The survey received a total of 133 responses
The design team will use this feedback to refine a final design. The final design will be available on this page in Spring 2022. Construction will take place Summer of 2022.
When asked to rank their playground design preference, respondents ranked Playground Design C highest (51 per cent) followed by Playground Design A (30 per cent) and Playground Design B (19 per cent).

The preferred colour scheme for the new playground was bright colours, like yellow, orange and purple (74 per cent) over earthy colours like green, brown and grey (22 per cent).

Coronation Park – York is an 8.5-hectare park located at 2700 Eglington Ave. W., north of the York Civic Centre with Black Creek Road running along the western edge of the park. The park has a number of amenities including a splash pad, children’s playground, two basketball courts, a bocce court and a number of seating areas.
