The City is introducing an outdoor fitness circuit to Donalda Park! The park will be enhanced with new fitness equipment and a multi-use trail to improve accessibility.

  • Winter 2020 to Spring 2021: Design development and community engagement
  • Spring 2022: Construction starts
  • October 2022: Construction complete

Project Complete

Construction is complete and the fitness circuit opens to the public. The fitness circuit includes triple push-up bars, parallel bars, information panel, double pull-up bars, long bench, accessible asphalt walkway, benches and new tree plantings.

June 2021

Final Playground Design

The playground design was finalized using feedback collected from the community in an online survey conducted in February/March 2021. The final design includes:

  • A combination of the layouts and fitness equipment provided in the designs shown in Option 1 and Option 2
  • Engineered cedar fibre safety surfacing
  • Addition of native trees

Online Survey

An online survey was conducted to gather feedback on the fitness equipment options and other park features. The survey results will help inform the next steps for the design of the fitness equipment. including playground features and amenities.

Donalda Park is a 2-hectare park located along Donalda Crescent, near Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue East. The park features a large open lawn area and a large wooded area at the south of the park with mature trees and plants. The open lawn area within the park will be enhanced with the following improvements:

  • A new multi-use asphalt trail to improve access to the park
  • New outdoor fitness equipment
  • Additional seating

The existing trees, planting beds and memorial benches will be preserved. The project is in the design phase which will be developed through consultation with the community.

There are two fitness equipment layout options for the fitness circuit. All trees, planting beds and memorial benches will be preserved.

Concept 1
