The City is improving the playground in Dunlop Park. These improvements are part of an ongoing city-wide program to ensure our playgrounds provide safe and accessible fun for years to come!

Project Timeline

  • Fall 2021: Community engagement survey (online survey)
  • Winter to Spring 2022: Detailed design and hire a construction team
  • Summer 2022: Construction starts
  • Fall 2022: Construction complete, playground reopens

The timeline is subject to change.

Dunlop Park is a 1.7-hectare park located near Dunlop Avenue and Silvio Avenue in Scarborough. The park features a children’s playground which currently includes:

  • Two swing sets with:
    • Four ┬ábucket swings for ages two to five
    • Four belt swings for ages five and up
  • A junior climbing structure with slides and play panels
  • A senior climbing structure with slides and monkey bars
  • Sand under all play areas

The playground will be redesigned using feedback from the community. The redesigned playground is proposed to include:

  • New playground equipment for ages eighteen months to twelve years
  • Accessible play features and an accessible pathway connecting to the playground area. This means that people of all abilities will be able to play at this playground.
  • Additional seating
  • Engineered wood fiber playground surfacing

Improvements will only be made in the general playground area. This will not include improvements to other areas of the park.

Online Survey 1

Fall 2021

An online survey will be posted on this page in the fall. The survey will ask for your feedback and preferences on multiple playground options. The design team will use the community feedback collected in this survey to develop a single playground design.

The results of this survey will be posted on this page.
