The City is planning improvements to the playground in Norwood Park and will be engaging the community to determine a new site-appropriate playground enhancement to meet the needs of park users.

Final Playground Design

The final playground design and layout was determined using feedback from the community. The new playground will be accessible and will include the following features:

  • Junior play structure
  • Senior play structure
  • Jupiter climber
  • Accessible swings
  • New rubber play surfacing
  • Accessible bench and picnic table

January 2021


The City conducted an online survey to gather feedback from the community on a conceptual playground design and to determine the priorities for the playground improvements. The results from the survey will inform the next steps of the park design. The survey was available to complete from January 22 to February 7, 2021 and received 558 responses, which included input from 1,147 individuals.

  • 34% of respondents preferred playground option 1
  • 29% of respondents preferred playground option 4
  • 42% of respondents preferred bright and vibrant colours for the playground equipment
  • 63% of respondents preferred rubber for the playground surface

Norwood Park is a 1.6 hectare located at 16 Norwood Rd., near Gerrard Street East and Woodbine Avenue. The children’s playground is being updated to increase accessibility and ensure it is in good condition for park users. The scope of work may include:

  • New and/or refurbished play elements
  • New universally accessible safety surfacing
