The new playground in Queens Avenue Parkette is open to the public!

The City is updating Queens Avenue Parkette in order to better serve the community!

  • Winter to Spring 2021: Community engagement
  • Spring to Late Summer 2021: Design development
  • Fall to Winter 2021: Permit coordination and hire a construction team
  • Spring/Summer 2022: Construction starts
  • Fall 2022: Construction complete

Project Complete

Construction for the parkette improvements is complete and the playground opens to the public.

August 2021

Final Playground Design

The playground design for the parkette is finalized. The final design incorporates community feedback from the April 2021 survey, including the addition of two swings and a light grey, medium green and deep blue colour scheme for the equipment. The playground will include:

  • A combined junior and senior play structure
  • An arch swing set with:
    • A toddler seat
    • Two belt seats
    • An accessible seat (the accessible seat may vary from the one shown in the playground renderings)
  • A standing spinner
  • An explorer panel

April 2021

Online Survey

Feedback on multiple playground design and equipment options was collected in an online survey from March 31 to April 24, 2021. The survey received a total of 317 responses.

Queens Avenue Parkette is a small park located at 94 Superior Ave. in Etobicoke York. The playground equipment has reached the end of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. The City is proposing to replace the play equipment in the park and add new amenities that will better serve the community. The improvements in the park may include:

  • New play equipment
  • New play surfacing
  • New seating elements
  • Accessible pathway

The final design will be developed through consultation with the community.
