The City is planning improvements to Turnberry North Park to better serve the community’s needs. The project provides an opportunity to make the park fully accessible with pathway improvements, safety surfacing and additional seating areas for social gatherings.

The park design has been finalized and construction will begin in late Summer/early Fall 2020.

The timeline is subject to change.

Feedback from public meetings, the local Councillor and stakeholders were incorporated in the final concept design for Turnberry North Park in order to support a wide range of community needs. The park will be fully accessible and the existing artificial turf will be removed and replaced with a lawn area and new tree plantings, a play area and expanded social gathering spaces. The redesigned park will include:

  • A new active play circuit with safety surfacing, a rope climbing structure, chin-up bars, stepping pods and various accessible features
  • Improved accessible pathways
  • An armour stone seat wall
  • An open lawn area with new tree plantings
  • New metal fencing along the east edge of the park
  • An expanded social gathering space with new park benches and an accessible picnic table

Final Concept Plan

A rope climbing play circuit is located at the east side of the park with a low armourstone seat wall at the west side of the play area. The west side of the park is an open passive green space and tree plantings have been included at the west edge and adjacent to the playground. A new fence lines the east side of the park and two new pathways provide an accessible route into the park from the sidewalk.
