Parks, Forestry & Recreation, in coordination with the Ward 20 – Scarborough Southwest Office, is consulting the local community to identify a park location for an outdoor fitness pod.

Project Timeline

  • August 2020: Online community consultation
  • October 2020: Construction
  • Early Spring 2021: Construction complete

The timeline is subject to change.

The community in Ward 20 has shown interest in an outdoor fitness pod within a local park. The City has identified three possible locations for the fitness pod and will be selecting one location based on feedback from the community.

The City is proposing the following fitness equipment and layout for the fitness pod.

The fitness pod is designed as a circuit with three exercise stations that can accommodate twenty-four different exercises for both beginner and advanced fitness levels. The equipment components are easily adaptable and have no moving parts, which increases the equipment’s overall safety and minimizes the need for frequent maintenance. The fitness pod will include the following:

  • Push up bars
  • 3 step up benches (12″, 17″, 22″)
  • Pull up bars (double)
  • 6 hurdles
  • A long bench
  • Parallel bars
  • 4 information panels with fitness program options

There may be minor adjustments made to the configuration and layout of the equipment based on the location selected for the fitness pod.
