While we prepare for the new electric ferries, continual efforts are underway to enhance the ferry passenger experience, informed in large part by feedback from ferry users.
Temporary shade tents during warmer months in the ticket queuing area at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal are back in 2025. The shade tents are also at the Centre Island dock.
Look for large visitor maps installed at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal along with a new park sign, overhead signage, queue signage and gate signage. On the Islands look for new signage directing passengers to ferry waiting areas and commercial water taxi docks. A new Toronto Island Park brochure that highlights park features and includes a full map is available at the information booth at the entrance to Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and at Centre Island near the ferry dock.
Additional customer service representatives are at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, Centre Island ferry dock and Hanlan’s Point ferry dock during peak travel times. There are new visitor information booths at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal’s Queen’s Quay entrance and at Centre Island ferry dock.
In collaboration with the Waterfront Business Improvement Area, entertainers will be on-site at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal during peak travel periods.
Service for passengers with disabilities and their caregivers is being improved with priority access to Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. A new waiting area is being established in the terminal area to facilitate boarding on the ferries. Look for new signage or ask customer service representatives for assistance.
