A new 10,000 m2 park is coming to 50 Queens Quay E. near One Yonge Community Recreation Centre, as part of the Lower Yonge Precinct Plan. This new precinct and park are part of ongoing efforts to revitalize Toronto’s waterfront into a vibrant, mixed-use, transit-oriented community with enhanced public spaces.

Before full construction begins, the site will be converted into a Park in Progress – a park space that will open for public use while a long-term vision is developed for the permanent park. The Park in Progress will feature grass, meadows, trees, pathways and seating.

The design, amenities and features of the permanent park will be determined through community engagement.

  • Summer 2025: Park in Progress opens for public use
  • Winter 2025 to Summer 2027: Community engagement and design development
  • Spring 2027 to Fall 2028: Detailed design
  • Winter 2028: Hire a construction team
  • Spring 2029: Park in Progress closes; construction of the permanent park begins
  • 2030: Construction complete; new park opens to the public

The timeline is subject to change.
