The draft Guidelines for the Design and Management of Bicycle Parking Facilities are intended to improve the quality of bicycle parking that is secured through the development approval process.
The Guidelines provide planners, developers and property managers with information to support the design, construction and management of high quality bicycle parking facilities. In doing so, this Guide serves as a tool for meeting Official Plan policies and environmental standards such as those set by the Toronto Green Development Standard. Although aimed at new developments, the Bicycle Parking Guidelines can also be applied to existing developments looking to improve bicycle parking facilities.
The Guidelines for the Design and Management of Bicycle Parking Facilities were approved for public release and stakeholder consultation by City Council at their meeting on June 23rd & 24th, 2008. In addition, City Council has authorized City Planning staff to apply the draft Guidelines in the review and approval of all new developments. A staff report provides more details.
