City Council adopted an update to the King-Spadina Secondary Plan on January 29, 2020, together with a King-Spadina Public Realm Strategy on July 14, 2021. The King-Spadina Secondary Plan has been appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal and is not in full force and effect.
King Spadina is one of fastest growing parts of the Downtown that has evolved from having mostly employment (non-residential) uses into an area with a mix of uses including substantial residential. This update to the Secondary Plan builds on the Downtown Plan and recognizes that growth needs to happen in a way that contributes to liveability, is supported by necessary hard infrastructure and community facilities, and carefully responds to heritage and the character of the area.
