The City of Toronto is proposing to install road safety upgrades on Caledonia Park Road from St Clair Avenue West to Davenport Road and on Davenport Road, from Caledonia Park Road to Foundry Avenue. In 2026, road work is planned on Caledonia Park Road between St Clair Avenue West and Davenport Road which provides an opportunity to make changes to these intersecting streets.
The project would improve connections for pedestrians and people cycling and enhance safety at three intersections:
Some changes to parking are required to support intersection safety. There will be no reduction in the number of motor vehicle travel lanes.
The Caledonia Davenport project area includes:
In support of the Council-approved 2025 – 2027 Cycling Network Near-Term Program, the City is bundling road safety improvements on Caledonia Park Road with state of good repair upgrades. A recently built parallel multi-use trail through Earlscourt Park also provides an opportunity to focus on road connections at intersections including: Foundry Avenue and Davenport Road and at St Clair Avenue West and Caledonia Park Road for all ages and abilities.
The planned roadwork on Caledonia Park Road will facilitate the installation of a missing sidewalk on the west side of Caledonia Park Road, while right-sizing the roadway to better meet the City’s lane width guidelines with no impact to travel lanes.
After community input and functional analysis, a new signal is also being proposed at Foundry Avenue and Davenport Road to prioritize safety and accessibility for both pedestrian’s and cyclist’s access to Earlscourt Park. A motion to include this new signal in the 2026 construction will be put together by Traffic Operations, Transportation Services including other safety improvements; tightening the curb radiii (shortening crossing distance for pedestrians), curb extensions on the east and west side of Foundry Avenue at Davenport Road. This new signal will have parking impacts on the north side of Davenport Road (adjacent to Earlscourt Park), there are 17 spaces existing and after the signal is installed nine will remain. On the south side of Davenport Road, there are eight spaces existing and zero to remain post-installation.
Changes would include:
