The City is actively working to create more affordable and supportive housing across Toronto. This work is guided by the HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan.

The Action Plan will help create a range of housing opportunities across the full housing spectrum – from homelessness to rental and ownership housing. Implementation of the HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan will assist more than 341,000 households, part of which will be accomplished through the approval of 40,000 new affordable rental homes, including 18,000 deeply affordable homes with support services.

The City alone can not create all the affordable housing that is required — this must be done in partnership with other orders of government, the non-profit sector, private developers and others.
