The Lower Don Valley is home to a wide array of plant and animal species, some part of sensitive ongoing natural habitat restoration, and a number of naturalized areas and trails. The Lower Don Trail is a 5 km multi-use trail that stretches from Taylor Creek to Lakeshore Boulevard, following the Don River.
Crothers Woods offers 10km of natural surface trails through mature maple-beech-oak woodland on the west-side of the Don River. Cottonwood Flats is located at the base of Beechwood Drive
