This course is designed to develop sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgement and a mature, responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard in a waterfront setting. The program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, communications and the prevention of accidents and the treatment of medical emergencies. Participants are taught advanced lifeguarding skills. This award remains current for two years from the date of certification. Candidates must bring proof of pre-requiste awards. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 16 years and proof of Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid with CPR-C. SFA/CPR-C MUST be from one of the following recognized agencies: Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance and Canadian Ski Patrol. If you withdraw or transfer from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided. No refunds are given for classes or programs that you miss. 100% attendance and active participation are mandatory!
