Heron Park Community Recreation Centre offers programming for residents of all ages. The facility includes skating rinks, gymnasiums, community room for party rentals and a playschool room. The outdoor pool operates from June to August.

This is a free centre. This centre has a dedicated enhanced youth space called the 6IX.

This group of programs is suitable for all fitness levels, focusing on providing cardiovascular exercise that use large muscle groups. Classes may include music and dance movements to create an aerobic workout. Most classes will also include a muscle conditioning component. Small equipment may be used.

Hockey Skills / Power Skate - Child

Hockey Skills is an instructional program geared towards skaters who are interested in learning basic hockey skills with a focus on puck handling, skating and game strategies. Program variations may include Hockey Skills - Beginner, Home Ice Hockey and Goalie Skills.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Learn to Skate 1 or able to skate one length of the ice surface.
Mandatory Equipment: CSA approved hockey helmet with full face cage or full visor, a hockey stick, hockey skates, hockey gloves and a neck guard. Full goalie equipment is required for Goalie Skills.

Power Skating is a high-energy instructional conditioning program geared toward all type of skaters which teaches speed, agility and coordination.
Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Learn to Skate 4.
Mandatory Equipment: CSA approved hockey helmet and hockey or figure skates.

Learn to Skate - Early Child

Learn to Skate Early Child introduces new skaters aged to basic skating skills. The lesson consists of a warm-up, skill development, games and free skate. Program variations offered: Learn to Skate - Beginner and Learn to Skate with Caregiver.

Learn to Skate - Beginner: Skaters must be capable of going on the ice alone and be able to stand and walk on skates off the ice.

Learn to Skate with Caregiver: Caregivers must be at least 14 years of age, a competent skater and actively participate with the enrolled skater.

Mandatory Equipment: CSA approved hockey helmet with full face cage (child) and CSA approved hockey helmet (caregiver) in with Caregiver programs. All participants require hockey or figure skates.

Instructional Basketball programs provide participants an opportunity to further develop their Basketball skill(s) in a structured instructional setting. Each week will be taught under the guidance and co-ordination of our highly trained Sport instructors.

Recreational Basketball programs provide an opportunity for participants to secure their space in a weekly Basketball program focusing specifically on scrimmage style games. Participants will play with the same group of people each week. This program will offer no instruction, but will be supervised by staff to help co-ordinate equal play.
