Front or Side Door Collection
Front or side door collection of garbage, recycling, and organics is only provided to those residents who are not physically able to carry their materials to the curb and who do not have an able-bodied person living with them who can take the materials to the curb. (Eligibility is not age-related)

Yard waste, oversized, and metal items (including large appliances and furniture) are NOT eligible for front/side door collection. These items are collected at curbside only.

This application must be completed and signed by your physician.

Note: If the application is approved, it will be subject to an annual review and the service may be terminated if the conditions no longer apply.

Front or side door collection requirements:

  • You must be registered in the program
  • Garbage must be placed out at the agreed-upon location on the correct day/week
  • Garbage must be out by 7:00 a.m. for daytime collection and after 6 p.m. and before 9:00 p.m. for the curbside night schedule
  • Garbage must be accessible
  • City issued bins must be used
  • Material that is prohibited will not be collected (i.e. grass clippings, construction or renovation waste, etc.)
  • Bungee cords and tie-downs must be removed
  • Recycling put out in open boxes/cartons will not be collected
  • Overflow or excess recycling material: The City encourages residents who consistently have overflow recycling to order a larger bin. Wherever possible, we would like all materials to be in the Blue Bin. In the event that you have excess or overflow recycling that cannot be stored until the next recycling collection day, the following guideline will apply:

    • Overflow recycling should be placed out in clear/light blue plastic bags as outlined on the waste collection calendar and placed beside the Blue bin.

    • Cardboard should be broken down and placed in the Blue bin to aid in the automated collection. In situations where the cardboard will not fit into the Blue Bin, you must flatten and bundle the cardboard with string or twine to a maximum dimension of 75X75X30 cm (2X2X1 ft), otherwise the bundles will not fit into the opening of the truck. No exceptions can be made to this requirement. You can also take it to a Drop-off Depot. For more information, please visit the website.

    • Overflow recycling must fit into the recycle Blue bin, for reload, in order to be collected. Overflow that does not fit into the bin, will be left a sticker advising of this.

    • Check the Waste Wizard for proper disposal of waste.
