The City of Toronto owns and is responsible for the maintenance of trees on City property. This may include trees planted in hard surfaces, such as sidewalks, and raised tree planters.
Some street tree infrastructure may be owned or maintained by private property owners or local Business Improvement Associations (BIAs). Upon receiving a Service Request, Urban Forestry will investigate and plan work or forward the request to the BIA accordingly.
Mulching is provided only to newly planted trees, and watering is provided only during the first 1-3 years following planting. Trees are watered at a frequency to best support their establishment. Please note that Urban Forestry does not accept requests for watering of these trees.
To report damage to any City-owned street trees or infrastructure, submit a service request online or call 311.
