A 50% deposit is required upon booking a one-time event at a City Community or Recreation Centre. The balance is due a minimum of 3 weeks before the event. Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable. Contact the community centre for which the permit is booked for more information. Fees are paid over the phone or in person at the facility.
Parks and Recreation's facility permit fee structure is based on differential rates for different facility types and for different user groups. Facilities are classified into Premier, A, B and C, according to the amenities available at the facility, with Premier being the facility with the most amenities. Permit fees would be highest for Premier facilities, and on a declining scale with A, B and C facilities. Within each facility type, children and youth resident community groups receive top priority, and thus, lower rates than adults and seniors groups.
Additional fees, such as charges for storage space, set-up costs, cleaning costs, after-hours fees, SOCAN and Municipal Alcohol Policy charges are charged, regardless of the user group or facility classification. These fees are calculated on a case-by-case basis depending on the needs of the permit holder.
Premier facilities have dedicated staff, additional amenities and high maintenance standards. Premier facilities are considered those facilities that host City-wide programs/events and are designated as Citywide in terms of allocation.

If the permit holder cancels within three weeks of the scheduled special event and the City can re-rent the space, the permit holder forgoes the 50% deposit and is charged a $25.00 administration fee. If the City cannot re-rent the space, the permit holder does not receive any refund or credit.
