Important Notice:

  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Note: Beginning January 1, 2026, the City will no longer be collecting recycling (Blue Bin) from eligible sources which include residential locations, eligible multi-residential buildings, schools, long-term care facilities and retirement homes.
  • Recycling questions for these sources should be directed to the recycling program administrator, Circular Materials.

The mobius loop symbol does NOT mean that the material is recyclable in the City of Toronto's Recycling Program.

The number inside the mobius loop is used for plastics and indicates the resin type of the product.

To make recycling as easy as possible, the City does not refer to plastics by their resin type.

In your collection calendar, on City promotional materials, and in the Waste Wizard, the types of items that can and cannot be recycled are listed.

Visit City of Toronto’s website for a list of items accepted in the Recycling program.

Please DO NOT place the following in Recycling bins: food, containers with food still in them, clothing, ceramics, toys, stand-up pouches, hoses, chains.

For more information, please contact Circular Materials.
